How to play Thermometers

Fill each glass thermometer with mercury from its round bulb toward the tip until every row and column total is met.

Logic · 100 puzzles · difficulties 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Rules

  1. Every cell belongs to one thermometer: a glass tube that starts at a round bulb and ends at a closed tip.
  2. Mercury always fills from the bulb upward with no gaps — a tube can be empty, partly filled, or full, but it can never fill from the middle or the tip.
  3. A red (mercury) cell counts as filled; a plain glass cell counts as empty.
  4. The number beside each row and below each column is how many filled cells that line must end up with.

How to answer

  1. Find the round bulb of a tube, then tap a cell along it to fill from the bulb up to that point.
  2. Tap a cell that is already filled to drain the mercury back down to it.
  3. Submit when every row and column shows its target number of filled cells.
